Singapore is expanding support for graduates entering the technology workforce through new initiatives led by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA). Announced on 10 April 2026, the expanded Technology Immersion Programme (TIP) Alliance+ will extend structured industry training and career support to university graduates in information and digital technology (IDT). According to an official announcement by IMDA, the initiative aims to strengthen industry readiness through sector-specific learning, hands-on experience and improved access to employment opportunities.
The programme builds on existing efforts to strengthen Singapore’s digital workforce and aligns with broader national strategies to equip workers with future-ready skills, similar to initiatives highlighted in Singapore’s workforce transformation for a technology-driven future. By extending industry-led training to university graduates, policymakers aim to ensure that students from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), polytechnics and universities can transition more effectively into roles across the country’s growing digital economy.
Expanding the Technology Immersion Programme for University Graduates
Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, and Health, Mr Tan Kiat How announced that the enhanced TIP Alliance+ programme will expand the original initiative launched in 2022 to include local university students specialising in IDT disciplines.
The programme focuses on structured learning pathways, industry placements and career preparation designed to help graduates develop practical experience alongside academic knowledge. The expanded model also strengthens collaboration between government agencies, professional bodies and industry partners to create clearer entry routes into technology roles.
Since its launch, the original TIP Alliance programme has supported more than 2,300 year-long internship placements for ITE and polytechnic students and generated over 1,000 technology job opportunities. More than 200 employers have also adopted skills-based hiring practices through the initiative, recognising industry-relevant capabilities in addition to academic qualifications.
Sector-Specific Pathways to Build Applied Technology Skills
To complement industry exposure, IMDA is introducing specialised learning pathways designed to equip graduates with both technical capabilities and sector knowledge. These pathways include modular training that allows participants to develop expertise in specific industries and understand how digital technologies are applied in operational environments.
The first of these initiatives is the Government Tech Pathway, developed in collaboration with GovTech and the Singapore Computer Society. The pathway will provide students with hands-on opportunities to gain experience in areas such as governance, compliance and the development of public sector digital systems.
Additional pathways are expected to follow through further collaboration between government agencies and industry stakeholders. Future programmes are being explored for sectors including financial services and health technology, reflecting the increasing integration of digital tools across public and private sector services.
Centralised Platform for Tech Jobs and Training
Alongside the expanded training pathways, IMDA has partnered with NTUC’s Employment and Employability Institute (e2i) to launch the Tech Elevation and Career Hub (TECH). The platform provides a single point of access for information on technology jobs, training programmes and career development resources.
Initially, the portal will feature around 800 technology job and internship opportunities. It is designed to support not only new graduates but also jobseekers and mid-career professionals looking to transition into technology roles.
The initiative reflects Singapore’s broader approach to workforce development, which emphasises continuous learning and cross-sector collaboration. Similar efforts to strengthen digital capabilities across the labour market have been highlighted in initiatives supporting workforce upskilling to accelerate Singapore’s national AI ambition.
By bringing together education providers, employers and training resources within a coordinated framework, the expanded programmes aim to strengthen Singapore’s technology talent pipeline and help graduates enter the workforce with relevant, industry-aligned skills.
