India’s ‘Sadhana Saptah 2026’ Records 31.8 Million Course Completions on iGOT Karmayogi Platform
India’s national learning campaign Sadhana Saptah 2026, held under the government’s Mission Karmayogi programme, recorded more than 31.8 million course completions on the iGOT Karmayogi digital learning platform. Conducted from 2 April to 10 April 2026, the initiative marked a significant expansion in public-sector training, with participation from millions of government employees across central ministries, states and union territories. The campaign reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen a future-ready, citizen-focused and competency-based civil service.
According to an official government release, the number of course completions represents nearly a tenfold increase compared with the National Learning Week – Karmayogi Week 2024 initiative. The programme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video message, which emphasised the importance of continuous learning and professional development across the public administration system.
Large-scale participation across government workforce
The campaign saw extensive engagement across different levels of government. A total of 4.69 million employees completed at least one course during the week, while 3.344 million employees undertook more than four hours of training.
Participation in courses related to artificial intelligence was also notable. Around 3.661 million employees enrolled in at least one AI-focused course, indicating a growing emphasis on digital capabilities and emerging technologies within the public sector.
Frontline workers account for nearly half of completions
Frontline personnel played a significant role in the campaign. Teachers, police personnel and other grassroots workers collectively completed more than 14.8 million courses, accounting for roughly 47 per cent of the overall total.
Many of these participants were engaging with structured digital learning for the first time. Their involvement highlights the initiative’s reach beyond central administrative offices into local and service delivery roles across the country.
Strong contribution from states and union territories
State and union territory governments played a central role in driving engagement with the programme. Their employees accounted for nearly 80 per cent of all course completions, reflecting the collaborative approach between central and state administrations in implementing capacity-building initiatives.
The week-long campaign also featured a series of 136 thematic webinars and 84 group discussions, which together attracted more than 1.64 million cumulative learning engagements. These sessions covered a broad range of topics, including artificial intelligence and digital transformation, Indian knowledge systems, infrastructure and technical skills, governance and ethics, and health and wellbeing.
Multi-platform outreach to expand learning culture
Sadhana Saptah 2026 was designed as a nationwide campaign with extensive outreach. Communication efforts spanned print, television, radio, digital media and on-the-ground engagement activities, helping to increase awareness and participation across different regions.
The initiative also incorporated regional language content, thematic storytelling and citizen-centred narratives to broaden engagement. These approaches were intended to make learning resources more accessible while encouraging greater participation among diverse groups within the government workforce.
The results suggest a growing shift towards continuous learning within government institutions. High participation levels, particularly in emerging technology topics such as AI, indicate increasing readiness among public-sector employees to adapt to evolving governance requirements.
Within the framework of Mission Karmayogi, Sadhana Saptah 2026 represents a large-scale effort to embed professional development into the day-to-day functioning of India’s civil service, with the aim of improving administrative capacity and citizen-focused service delivery.
