West Java Introduces 10 Percent Vehicle Tax Discount for Eid Holiday Period

Uncategorized

The West Java provincial government has announced a temporary 10 percent discount on annual motor vehicle tax payments to coincide with the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri holiday. The measure applies to both two- and four-wheeled vehicles and is intended to reduce financial pressure on households during the festive period while encouraging timely tax compliance through digital services.

According to a report published by ANTARA News, the incentive is available for online payments made between 18 March and 24 March 2026. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said the initiative is designed to balance seasonal spending with civic obligations.

“Rather than spending all your money on Lebaran, it is better to pay your taxes and receive a 10 percent discount,” — Dedi Mulyadi, Governor, West Java Provincial Government

Digital platforms central to tax payment scheme

The discount is accessible through established digital platforms, including the Sapawarga application and SIGNAL (Samsat Digital Nasional). In addition to mobile and online options, Samsat kiosks at main Samsat offices across West Java will remain open during the holiday period to serve residents travelling within the province.

Officials said the continued operation of these services reflects a broader push to modernise public administration. Similar efforts to strengthen digital public services have been highlighted nationally, including initiatives such as the Digital Government Clinic, which aims to improve service delivery across different levels of government.

Supporting compliance through service continuity

The governor noted that digitalisation allows residents to meet their tax obligations without being constrained by reduced office hours during public holidays. The provincial government has encouraged users to update the Sapawarga application to ensure smooth transactions.

For technical assistance, residents can also contact the West Java hotline at 082126030038. Authorities expect the combination of financial incentives and accessible digital channels to improve compliance while helping residents maintain the legal status of their vehicles at a lower cost.

Part of a wider digitalisation agenda

The tax discount aligns with Indonesia’s wider efforts to expand the use of digital tools in government, including initiatives that support economic participation and administrative efficiency. Broader digitalisation policies have also been linked to outcomes such as improved business competitiveness, as seen in programmes supporting MSME growth, and technology-enabled development at the local level, including village innovation initiatives.
